The set that started it all was this 1991-92 release McDonalds hockey cards. While many large and vastly over-produced early 90's sets for a time nearly killed the hobby, the McDonalds sets endured, and became Canada's most collected set year after year. As a result these sets have not only held their value, but have increased in value over the decades. Upper Deck continued to partner with McDonald's through to the end of the 1994-95 promotion. These modest small sets gradually evolved and expanded over the next 20 years. Pinnacle and Pacific also took turns partnering with McDonalds, but it was Upper Deck who produced most of the sets up until their last release in 2009.
