| Two Signed Patch Cards In Every Tin On Average; At Least One Patch Will Be A Rookie Card CARLSBAD, CA (July 13, 2006) Collectors of high-end hockey cards who have been clamoring for something exquisite for years can rejoice as their comments have been heard loud and clear by Upper Deck. Collectors can now breathe easier as The Cup prepares to land on store shelves in late July. Upper Decks 2005-06 The Cup Hockey will be the icing on the cake for what has become the Year of the Rookie, a year in which many impact newcomers made their on-ice debuts, including Sidney Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin, Dion Phaneuf and Henrik Lundqvist.
This past season saw a renewed passion
for hockey cards, along with many rule changes, the 2005-06 campaign made for a great year
for the sport, said Josh Zusman, Hockey Brand Manager for Upper Deck. The
Cup has been widely speculated for months and now we are proud to let collectors see
what will become the best high-end hockey product on the market. We have carefully managed the print runs to ensure
the highest long-term collectibility and value for the consumer. The Cup Hockey will be delivered in a
custom metal embossed tin. Each four-card tin
will contain one regular card, one autographed rookie patch card numbered to 199 or less,
another autographed patch card numbered to 99, and one could include: an autographed press
plate; a non-autographed press plate, a signed jersey card, signed card, autographed
rookie card (non-patch), a rookie card parallel, or a regular card parallel. In addition, collectors will enjoy chasing autographed rookie patches numbered to 99, or collecting cards featuring the greats of yesteryear with the Legendary Cuts cards or a stalwart in other Upper Deck products, the Dual Signed Logo cards. Upper Deck has also included four unique inserts featuring pressplates, both signed and unsigned, in Rookie Masterpiece, Autographed Rookie Masterpiece The Cup Masterpiece and Autographed The Cup Masterpiece each numbered to one!
